The Village of Tobaccoville has remained a small, rural community, but still conveniently located to employment, shopping and entertainment. In an effort for people to escape urban sprawl, new developments have begun to spring up.
Named for a plug chewing-tobacco factory owned in the area, the Village of Tobaccoville began as a post office in the 1880s and has grown into a small but vibrant community. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Manufacturing has it's facility there.
The town is home to a 14-acre park begun in the mid-1990s. The park contains a fenced-in playground, picnic shelters, gazebo, sports fields and walking trails. A community center has also been added.
Tobaccoville covers seven square miles, is 18 miles north of Winston-Salem off US Highway 52.
