Winston-Salem Historic Neighborhood of Ardmore
   Washington Park

Washington ParkLocated south of downtown, with superb views of downtown high-rises, the Washington Park neighborhood is one of Winston-Salem's older residential areas.

Originally used for hunting and farming by the early Moravian settlers of Salem, the hills and bluffs became one of the residential areas to emerge in the early decades of current Winston-Salems boom. Built around the original electric streetcar line, Washington Park was designed by Jacob Lott Ludlow in the late 1890s, along with the West End area. It became home to some of the areas wealthy families, and attracted the growing middle class as well. The architecture is varied, ranging from cottages and bungalows to grand Queen Anne and Colonial Revivals. Most homes were built in the early 1900s, and many remain as lovely restorations.

Located adjacent to the North Carolinas School of the Arts, Washington Park maintains good home values, from the low $100,000s to the high $400,000s and is infused with professionals and creative diversity.
